Getting There

Getting There
Feichten is located in the Kaunertal valley, which is accessed from the Landeck junction of the E60 motorway, the main road through the Tirol that joins Salzburg, Innsbruck and Switzerland.

Driving
If you are in a group, the easiest, cheapest and most eco-friendly way to get to Kaunertal is driving – especially if you travel via Belgium and Germany, which means you don’t have to pay extortionate French motorway tolls. We have found that booking with Norfolkline (www.norfolkline.com) is the most cost effective way to get across The Channel. Don’t forget that you need to buy road tax (called the ‘vignette’) in Austria. For a car under 3.5 tons, it costs €7.70 for 10 days – the fine for not having it is €110!

Flying
Low cost flights are available Zurich, Salzburg and Munich (all around three hours by car) on Easyjet (www.easyjet.com). You can also fly to Friedrichshafen (around two hours by car) with Ryanair (www.ryanair.com). Of these airports, Munich and Salzburg offers the most flexibility with flights to and from different parts of the UK. It is still possible to fly to Innsbruck, but unfortunately, Easyjet’s low cost service into Innsbruck is not running in May as it was last year, which means premium prices from the likes of Austrian Airlines (www.aua.com)

Car Rental
We got a great deal with Holiday Autos (www.holidayautos.co.uk) for our vehicle last year. Check them out and see what they can offer. Please note, we’re not on any kind of commission, we just really liked their service!

Transfers
If you’re not renting a car, Austrian trains are amazingly efficient and run regularly – with the exception of Sundays when there’s a reduced service – check out the online timetable here
