Just a little follow up to yesterday’s post about snow conditions – here’s the images from today’s resort webcam…
Nay to the Naysayers!
We’ve heard a little rumour that Kaunertal is experiencing the same kind of snow drought as France did pretty much all season long – and we’d like to put a stop to it right now!
The shots below were taken from the Kaunertal Webcam on the 14th April and clearly shows the extensive amount of snow currently sitting on the ground in the resort. The shot with the heli in is the bottom of the lowest lift, as far down as it’s possible to ride, and you can see that it’s open. Plunging temperatures (-12°C!) and new snow has helped to ensure that this test is going to be as banging as they have been for the last three years in a row.

Early April Update!

Please note that the LAST DATE FOR BOOKING YOUR ACCOMODATION is 29th April – Gudrun, the one woman wonder show from the resort, is taking a holiday after this date and won’t be available.

The Snowboard Test 2011
Welcome back! It’s February, which means that it’s time to launch The Snowboard Test for the 2011 season. Last winter was the largest event we’ve ever held, with attendance surging by more than 50 people to a total of more than 270. The biggest growth came in the number of shop staff who attended, making the event even more important, for both brands and retailers.
We can confirm that we’re returning to Kaunertal Austria. This will be the fourth time in a row we’ve held The Snowboard Test in this little gem of an Austrian resort and we keep going back for a simple reason: it’s awesome. Small enough to be familiar, big enough that you don’t get bored, with the best spring park in Europe and enough freeriding to keep most people happy, Kaunertal is simply the ideal place for us to hold the event. Add the fact that you can DRIVE right to the snowline and you know you’ve got a winner.

It’s all over for another year…
We’ve been back from Kaunertal for a little over a week and it was another banger. The biggest test ever with more than 270 people in attendance.
It basically snowed all week, but that didn’t stop us from having a blast and shredding more boards than have ever been tested. Updates will follow, but in the meantime check out this edit from Nike 6.0 team manager Jon Weaver…

Kaunertal’s Snowpark is open and kicking ass
The Spring Classics, the six week end-of-season event that hosts The Snowboard Test, got under way on the 16th April with a full park set up and one of the only superpipes in Europe at this time of year. They’re a little over ten days into the Spring Classics and currently the weather on the mountain is -5°C and sunny! With a little over ten days to go to The Snowboard Test begins, excitement levels are building.
White Lines have confiemd that their Rail Jam will take place on Sunday 8th May, with a party to follow in the PfiffAlm afterwards.
Westbeach and The Reason will hold a Pub Quiz and party on Monday 9th May
Analog’s party will return again on Tuesday 9th May
We’ve also heard whisperings of a snow mini ramp jam which will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday 9th May
This is going to be sick!
